March: Where is he?!

March 1- With 680 miles to drive do Salt Lake City, I left at 7 a.m.  The sun was shining.

March 2- I left the Days Inn at 8:00 a.m. and drive one hour to Salt Lake City International Airport and hopped an Alaska flight to Seattle, took the train to the International District stop and boarded a bus to Mercer Island. Peggy Sue picked me up and drove me to her house, where I lounged for the afternoon.  I’ve covered lots of miles in the past week and the slow afternoon felt great.

DSC_0568I saw John and Mary Schramm, from my early 80’s days at Holden Village. Drove back to Seattle and celebrated Peggy Sue’s 63rd birthday with a delicious dinner that she made, and their kids and partners joined us: Christopher and Hajung, Maryn and Zack.

March 6-  Peggy Sue dropped me off at the bus stop on Mercer Island. I rode that downtown to the train station and on to Sea-Tac.  A 2:30 flight took me to Salt Lake City, where my car was parked, and I drove 45 minutes to Park City, Utah and the home of Thom and Jane Brown, who used to live in my home town of Neenah, Wisconsin.

March 7-  After Thom made eggs for breakfast, we drove 15 minutes to Deer Valley and skied for the morning.  Sunshine! Fun to ski with Thom, who is an excellent skier!

Before leaving Park City, I visited the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics, and then I drove six hours  to Steamboat Spring, Colorado.
