DESERT EXPLORATION · TRAVELING WITH JENNY

Death Valley!

Jenny and I spent a couple of days in Death Valley.  I was moved by what Edward Abbey said about water in the desert:

“Water, water, water. There is no shortage of water in the desert but exactly the right amount, a perfect ratio of water to rock, water to sand, insuring that wide, free, open, generous spacing among plants and animals, homes and towns and cities, which makes the arid West so different from any other part of the nation. There is no lack of water here unless you try to establish a city where no city should be.”

We stayed in a cabin at Furnace Creek Ranch, camped at Texas Springs, explored by car, hiked Mosaic Canyon and biked a bit.

    1. Morning Kris! I’ve had a great few days in Corvallis. I’ve been here several times before, but got to know it better. Nice bike ride at Oak Creek. Dinner at McMeniman’s. Beer at Flat Tail. Cool down! Having lunch today with Macy DuCoeur. Happy Saturday!
